The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) invites applications from confident and dynamic unemployed individuals for its General Internship and Cadet Programmes. These programs are designed to provide recent graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience and professional development in fields related to international relations, governance, and diplomacy.
The DIRCO Internship and Cadet Programmes aim to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for a career in international relations, diplomacy, and public governance. Participants in the **Cadet Programme 2025 - 2027** will receive in-depth training and exposure to the international relations landscape, with a focus on South Africa's role in global and continental governance.
During the Internship and Cadet Programmes, participants will:
- Engage in research and analysis on topics related to international relations, foreign policy, and governance.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations on international trade, investment, and political affairs.
- Participate in discussions on national and global governance issues, multilateralism, and diplomacy.

Applicants for the Cadet Programme must possess a 3-year NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following disciplines:

To be eligible for the DIRCO Internship and Cadet Programmes, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must hold a relevant qualification (NQF Level 7) in one of the specified fields of study.
- Must be a first-time applicant for any Cadet, Internship, or Learnership Programme.
- Must be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 as of the closing date of applications.
